FAB Architectural Bureau was created by a team of architects from all over Germany, who, through a series of innovative workshops led by Volker Halbach, of blauraum studio, and Sally Below, of sbca, dedicated this space on the relationship between architecture and film.
From 24th to 26th June FIANDRE has been celebrating the opening of the FAB ARCHITECTURAL BUREAU BERLIN, located at the Sarotti-Höfe in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Hereby FIANDRE contributed with the new design space, an exhibition revealing the transformation process and guided tours as contribution to the nationwide day of architecture 2016.
For the upcoming Day of Architecture 2016 on Friday, 24th June, the now finished space will celebrate its opening with an exhibition and guided tours. The exhibition documents the states of transformation throughout the whole process and introduces all involved parties and participants.
For A Day of Architecture, 25th – 26th June 2016, a new location will be opened for the communication of architecture in the Sarotti-Höfe in Berlin Kreuzberg – the FAB ARCHITECTURAL BUREAU BERLIN.
Currently a new space for communication and architecture is developing at the Sarotti Höfe – the FAB ARCHITECTURAL BUREAU BERLIN. Architect Volker Halbach, blauraum, and curator Sally Below, sbca, developed the renovation together with handpicked teams of architects, in an open process since June 2015.
Since June 2015 architect Volker Halbach und curator Sally Below have transformed the former factory floor with handpicked teams of architects. During three consecutive workshops they are working on the design of the space, adding layers that are subsequently implemented to the already existing – an unconventional way to work, allowing the teams to collaborate in a very communicative and productive manner.
On January 27th and 28th the second workshop of the transformation process highlighted "interactive surfaces" in the exhibition space of the FAB ARCHITECTURAL BUREAU BERLIN.

On 7 and 8 October the transformation of the space in the Sarotti-Höfe began with the first of three workshops on the subject of "light surfaces" run by Volker Halbach and Sally Below. The professor Ruth Berktold from yes architecture, Munich; Nils Buschmann from RobertNeun Architekten, Berlin; Laura Fogarasi-Ludloff from Ludloff + Ludloff Architekten, Berlin and Claudia Meixner from Meixner Schlüter Wendt Architekten, Frankfurt am Main took part.
The architect Volker Halbach from Blauraum and the curator Sally Below from the studio SBCA grouped together three design teams along with whom they implemented the renovation in a process open from June 2015 to June 2016. The process was launched in June 2015 with the architecture hall no. 1 where the concept was presented, which will now be developed in terms of contents and practice.
On the 26th of June 2015, in the lively neighbourhood of Kreuzberg, FAB Architectural Bureau Berlin was inaugurated the Fiandre, Ariostea and Porcelaingres showroom gallery. An innovative concept and a work-in-progress display will liven up the former Sarotti chocolate factory, giving a new face to the fourth Fiandre showroom in Europe dedicated to architecture and surfaces.
In a continuing open process from June 2015 to June 2016 this selection of experts will create a new face for the FAB ARCHITECTURAL BUREAU BERLIN – one of four showrooms concerning architecture and surfaces in Europe.
